Review Details
The
HP Pavilion G6-1202TX is targeted towards light gaming action. The G6-
1202TX supports a powerful Intel Core i3-2330M processor, 4GB of RAM,
1GB dedicated graphics card and AMD Radeon HD 6470M Graphics. The laptop
supports 500GB of HDD and a 15.6-inch screen.
Features
The HP Pavilion G6- 1202TX supports
the Sandy Bridge Intel Core i3 processor and powerful features for a
budget laptop. It offers connectivity options like three USB ports,
HDMI, VGA, Ethernet, card reader, DVD writer, microphone and headphone
jack though it does not supports USB 3.0. It does not have an eSATA port
and Display port. It supports Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth
connectivity.
The G6 supports a 15.6-inch glossy
screen display with 1366 x 768 pixels display resolution. It has good
brightness levels though the glossy screen is very reflective. It
supports Altec Lansing speakers that are average. It also supports a
built-in webcam with a microphone for video conferencing.
Design and Build
It is in a combination of red and
black colors excluding the bottom and screen bezel. The device has a
glossy plastic finish prone to smudges. The screen lid is average and
the two metal hinges are very strong. The G6 has a textured trackpad
which is responsive and for a budget laptop it is good. It features a
multi-gesture support with mouse buttons that are discrete and easy to
press. It has full-size keyboard that sports square flat-topped keys
with wider bottoms, and offers good tactile feedback. It has a matte
finish bottom that houses a 6-cell removable battery. It is very
convenient to update the RAM or HDD of the laptop as it has an easily
accessible panel.
Performance:
It offers good performance for an
entry level laptop. It scored a 5684 in the PC Mark Vantage test and on
the 3D Mark test it scored 4305. Multitasking is easy on the laptop. We
ran Doom and Far Cry 2 which was passable. It does not support USB 3.0
and transferring data took a long time. It took us 121 secs to copy a
4GB single file.
The HP Pavilion G6 offers a good home
entertainment experience and the laptop’s onboard speakers are good for
personal entertainment. It offers good battery life with
high-performance preset and max brightness level it lasted for 2 hours
and 13 minutes. On a conservative power plan it can deliver upto 3.5
hours of usage off a single charge.
Verdict:
Priced at Rs. 37, 000, it is a good
15-inch home laptop under Rs. 40k. It is great for basic use and
delivers decent performance. You can even play light games and it has a
decent battery life. Though the build quality is average but overall we
were quite satisfied with the G6.
