In a departure from traditional sound bar styling and design, the 2.1 channel Panasonic SC-HTB350 sound bar can be separated into two speakers by removing the connecting hardware in the middle. You are now able to place your speakers vertically if you so choose, something you are unable to do with most of the units featured in our sound bar reviews. In total, you have four installation options at your disposal: horizontal layout with a TV stand, horizontal wall-mounted, vertical layout tabletop and vertical layout wall-mount.
Equipped with an anti-jitter digital amplifier, the 120-watt
Panasonic sound bar attempts to reduce jitter and distortion in order to
improve audio clarity. While Panasonic states that this results in a
surround sound effect that rivals that of a traditional home theater, it
simply cannot replicate true 5.1 channel surround sound. It does
however produce rich, immersive sound that sound that a pair of
integrated television speakers cannot match. Panasonic employs their
Clear-mode Dialog, which gives the audio more depth and creates the
impression that voices are coming from the center of the screen.
You can place the 120-watt wireless subwoofer anywhere in your living room – behind furniture, next to the television, under a desk, etc. The freedom of a wireless subwoofer, coupled with the numerous sound-bar layout options offers you an extraordinary amount of flexibility for setting up your home theater.
The Panasonic SC-HTB350 comes with one RCA input, two optical inputs (for connecting DVD players, video game consoles and other digital components) and Bluetooth connectivity. Bluetooth connectivity allows you to stream downloaded music from your Smartphone, PC or other Bluetooth-enabled device to your speaker bar. Although we are big fans of Bluetooth, we are also big fans of HDMI support – something Panasonic does not include in the SC-HTB350. HDMI provides superior audio signal quality.
The Panasonic SC-HTB350 supports Dolby Pro Logic II, Dolby Digital and DTS audio processing formats. All three formats are capable of transforming standard stereo audio into deep, immersive surround sound.
With email, telephone and live chat support, Panasonic ensures any questions regarding the purchase of your Panasonic sound bar are addressed quickly. Correspondence with Panasonic's email support team is friendly and efficient, while the live chat support crew is more than capable of answering any questions that come their way. In addition to stellar customer support, Panasonic includes a thorough owner's manual with your purchase of the sound bar. A one-year warranty is also included with your purchase.
The Panasonic SC-HTB350's true strength is its versatility. The ability to split your speakers in two and place them vertically on either side of your television is an appealing option. We also like the numerous layout options afforded by this uniquely designed sound bar. We wish Panasonic would have included a few more connections on the unit – most notably HDMI – but the ability to stream music from your Smartphone to the sound bar via Bluetooth is a feature we applaud. In the end, the Panasonic SC-HTB350 sound bar is a very capable and flexible sound bar worthy of your consideration.
